Light trucks are great for those who have a little bit to haul in Prosperity but don’t quite need all the power of a regular truck. Two of the best competitors in this segment today are the Chevy Colorado and the Toyota Tacoma. Both come in at an attractive starting price, give you plenty of max towing, and have engine upgrades to make your life a little easier, but only the Colorado does more for cheaper. Read on and let Beckley Chevrolet tell you all about these two powerful trucks.
When you get behind the wheel of one of these trucks, you want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth. Beckley drivers should know that the new Chevy Colorado has the lower starting price, coming in at a starting MSRP of $25,200 compared to the Tacoma’s starting price of $26,500. Even so, the base engine on the Colorado is stronger, giving drivers 200 hp to work with compared to the 159 hp of the Tacoma. The base engine of the Colorado provides 3,500 pounds of towing capacity as well.
The best towing on both of these models will come when MacArthur shoppers upgrade to the premium engine. You will be able to get an impressive 7,000 pounds of towing capacity out of the Chevy Colorado when it is properly equipped, while the Tacoma will top you out at 6,600 by comparison.
You have a monstrous 308 hp when you pick the top engine on the Colorado, while on the other hands, you’ll get only 278 hp out of the premium engine on the Tacoma. What’s more, the Chevy offers a diesel engine option, which you just can’t get out of the Tacoma. This engine provides 181 hp but a whopping 369 lb-ft of torque, perfect for those tough hauls.
